Seventy-six children in grades pre-kindergarten through grade twelve started the 2022 – 23 school year. We wish a warm welcome to all our students!
The Panther Volleyball team has started the year strong. The 2022 Volleyball season is in full swing and the Panthers are finding success on the court. With only six players, the girls had to work hard on all of their skills to find success. The current record for the Panthers stands at 7 wins and 4 losses. The team is being led by seniors Macy Ladd and Lilian Frederick who led the team in kills this season. With continued improvement, the ladies look to finish the year with a winning record and enter the OHSAA tournament. Keep up the good work Panthers and “Get Your Growl ON!”
The Cross Country Team has been hard at work so far this year with 9 of 10 runners already running personal record paces for their respective races, either a 5K or 2-mile run. The team is fresh off of an evening meet at Seneca East High School as well as two other meets prior. Currently, they are preparing for our home race, the Miller 5K. Each student-athlete is hoping to continue to progress and again record another personal best time on Saturday, September 17th. Feel free to cheer the team on while running around the island to show your support. Go Panthers!
Mrs. Pippert invited grandparents and other guests in for a music celebration with her students on September 12th. We had 60-plus visitors in the school to sing and dance with our students. It was a very enjoyable and exciting day for our students and guests.
The Put-In-Bay High School Quiz Bowl team hosted the first game of the season for two divisions on Tuesday morning, September 13th. The team players include: 11th graders Joe Blumensaadt and Emil Michael and Sophomores Ava Heineman and Elias Wright.
Congratulations to the Team for winning two of the three matches against Saint Joseph Central Catholic and Fostoria. These are fantastic stats considering we have only four players on our team and we’re up against much larger schools.
The Seneca-Wyandot-Sandusky-Crawford-Put-In-Bay High School Quiz Bowl League includes the following schools: Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Calvert, Carey, Clyde, Colonel Crawford, Columbian, Fostoria, Fremont Ross, Hopewell-Loudon, Mohawk, New Riegel, Old Fort, Put-In-Bay, Riverdale, Seneca East, Shelby, St. Joseph Central Catholic and Upper Sandusky.
Players meet every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch, from September through December. We practice strategy, speed and accuracy and look forward to future competitions on October 11th, November 15th, and December 9th. Get your GROWL on Panthers!
Grades five through eight will be traveling to Oak Harbor High School again this year to participate in the Ottawa County Academic Challenge competition on October 18th and 19th. Students compete against teams from area schools to answer trivia questions on a wide variety of topics, including novels that the students were required to read. Good luck to all students that are participating!
Mrs. Melissa Kowalski has been taking students out for Bird Banding. The kindergarten students were even able to make the trip. Owen Woischke, Roco Scarpelli, Skyler Stoiber enjoyed the morning with the birds.
Our school utilizes “School Messenger” to inform parents of important announcements such as school closings or delays. We will now make this available to everyone in our community.
