Driving directions to the Miller Ferry

The Only Way To Put-in-Bay with a vehicle!

During peak summer season Put-in-Bay ferry trips begin as early as 6:30 am and depart Catawba as late as 9:30 pm with trips every half hour. Quite a change from 1946 when ferries departed for only three trips from Catawba. Miller Boat Line is the only scheduled ferry service to Middle Bass Island from the mainland. Miller Boat Line continues to add services and provide values for its customers: Budget-friendly fares, season passes to Put-in-Bay and Middle Bass, frequent floater tickets, season parking, group, and student fares, free parking, and island packages. Miller Boat Line proudly supports several non-profit and community organizations and events on Put-in-Bay and neighboring mainland communities. Miller Boat Line is the proud sponsor of the tall ship “Niagara” for the Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial Celebration 2013. The ferry service operates because of the devotion of all who work there; the people that sell car and passenger tickets, gift shop/information ladies, dock personnel, freight handlers, women that run the office operations and answer the phones, security, Captains, diligent deckhands, and maintenance men sent to repair things at a moment’s notice. About 95 five people are employed by Miller Boat Line during peak season and they each lend to the boat line’s reputation of being the most frequently traveled and largest ferry service on Lake Erie.

Once You're Here!

This is when the fun begins! There’s so much to do at Put-in-Bay, Ohio that you won’t believe it. Start with downtown Put-in-Bay where you can enjoy a drink at Mr. Ed’s or the Round House, and then take a stroll through lovely DeRivera Park. All of this will be in the shadow of our most famous Put-in-Bay attraction, Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial, a stunning Doric column that is actually the fifth tallest monument in the United States! This is kind of the crown jewel of Put-in-Bay, and it commemorates Oliver Hazard Perry and his victory in the Battle of Lake Erie, the critical battle in the War of 1812. Definitely a site to see for the history buffs!

Your getaway can continue by grabbing Put-in-Bay golf cart rentals and cruising around our beautiful island, making sure to take time for all of the great views you can get at places like South Bass Island State Park and the Put-in-Bay Waterfront Condos. Definitely also stop by Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center, which is an apt name because there’s fun here for the whole family. Get in a round of putt-putt, climb a rock wall, and explore an amazing cave, all at the same place! Can’t beat that!

No Put-in-Bay vacation is complete without enjoying some of Lake Erie, so grab some jet skis and zip around, waving hello to all of the boaters! Then head on home, hop into a Put-in-Bay taxi (no drinking and driving!) and get back to downtown Put-in-Bay to enjoy our famous nightlife in the evening. With live music pouring out of the bars, and great Put-in-Bay restaurants like the Boardwalk offering lively atmospheres, there’s a reason that downtown Put-in-Bay is famed from Cleveland to Tokyo (okay, maybe we’re exaggerating a little bit!)
