Middle Bass
View the Eclipse from Middle Bass
Take Miller Ferry to Middle Bass Island to watch the Eclipse on the Lonz Winery Park Patio where a viewing party will take place. Free ISO-certified glasses will be available on-site that day. There will be food and beverages available at the Island Grind and Prohibition Bar.
Middle Bass Island Trapper
Courtney Dobrovich from Middle Bass Island has acquired nuisance permits from ODNR and has been trapping the beaver and muskrats in the marsh located by the airport.
She and her daughter, Fran, have been working hard all winter and have been filling their tags.
One beaver weighed in at 72 lbs. and others at 48 and 50 lbs.
The beavers have really changed the landscaping and patterns of the tiny marsh and airport area.

North Bass
150th Anniversary
An important piece of North Bass Island postal history will be marked on April 3rd, 2024. It’s the 150th anniversary of the post office on Isle St. George.
Kelleys Island
Bird Banding Season Begins
The bird banding season on the Lake Erie Islands will begin on April 6th when set up begins on Kelleys Island. Birds will be banded at the KI State Park on April 7th and 8th from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m..
Pelee Island
Free Produce
The Essex County Food Security Network had fresh produce available to residents of Pelee recently. Produce was available on the porch of the Township building, and was first come first served. Islanders were asked to take what they needed and share with friends and neighbors. You had to bring your own bag for your produce.
