The Put-in-Bay EMS is responsible for these lives and providing the assistance needed during an emergency. Since 1977, the Put-in-Bay EMS has been the leader in Advanced Life Support. Their life-saving efforts are made possible thanks to the taxes and volunteers make up a crucial part of their success.

Put-in-Bay EMS Location & Partnership

At the intersection of Catawba Avenue and Erie Street guest will find the Put-in-Bay EMS station and clinic. They are centrally located about a block away from The Put-in-Bay School and the popular downtown strip. With so many visitors coming to Put-in-Bay to experience all of the attractions, dining, and shopping options there is always help nearby. This location gives the EMS crew the ability to reach any emergency with lightning speed and precision.

Partnership with St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center

The Put-in-Bay EMS has recently partnered with St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center of Toledo to guarantee one dedicated paramedic on the island year-round. This partnership ensures the residents and visitors will have qualified help in season or out. All of the EMS Staff and volunteer crew members are also provided continuing education at the hospital. The instruction they receive helps ensure the crew stays current with changing medical procedures and equipment as they progress. Since there is a drastic increase in population over the summer season, there is always a great need for staff. New recruits come each year to meet the seasonal demand. There are roughly 400 EMS calls on average per year, so 4 ambulances are ample coverage for the island’s needs.

Each ambulance is outfitted with the most up-to-date technology, medication, and equipment. The St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center partnership also provided the PIB EMS Team with all the resources needed for a Clinic. This island clinic is located in the EMS building near downtown Put-in-Bay.

There is one thing for certain, your trip to Put-in-Bay will be a safe one. Trained professionals are ready and available in case of an emergency, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed they won’t be needed. The Put-in-Bay community is fortunate for its life-saving efforts.
