What’s Happening at Erie Islands Library?
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday from 3-7 p.m.
A suggestion was to hold our Tuesday activities at 3:30 p.m. as the children are dismissed from school. We heard. We listened. Thank you for this brilliant idea! Let us know if you have an activity or suggestion to improve our library.
We are starting to welcome our summer residents and visitors back to the library. We look forward to seeing everyone for our Summer Reading Program “Oceans of Possibilities.” We’ve got two great entertainers coming in June and activities throughout June and July. Check out the PIB Gazette early next month. Don’t miss out!
Thu., May 5th – 5 p.m.: DIY Wine Cork Grape Cluster – Let’s repurpose some of those wine corks into bunches of grapes! We have lots of corks, glue guns and embellishments. Join us for an hour of fun with friends!
Wed., May 11th – 5:30 p.m.: Movies & Munchies – A brand-new club of sorts is starting up at our library: “Movies & Munchies.” This club is for all those who love to watch movies, TV shows, series, anything that you watch! Share your favorites and suggest to others what you liked or did not like. Traditionally at the movies everyone gets “munchies” to enjoy. Bring your favorite movie munchies and beverages. Location: Lake Erie Islands Nature Center
Thu., May 12th – 5 p.m.: DIY Suncatchers for Teens and Adults – Come down to the library to make your very own suncatchers out of glass stones/gems and clear Elmer’s glue. We’ll have the materials you will need to make this attractive project to give as a gift or to keep for your own home. PS We think they would make attractive coasters.
Sat., May 14th -10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: SIDEWALK BOOK SALE! Looking for a good read? Trying to restock your island library? Stop on down for a huge island Book Sale! Loads of popular titles for all ages.
Lowest prices in town: Hardcover – $1.00; Paperbacks $0.50; Children’s Books $0.25; DVDs $0.50; Audiobooks $1.00
Don’t miss out! If you’re not on the island on this date, don’t fret! We’re having another book sale in July and August.
Tue., May 17th – 3:30 p.m.: Book Tasting for Kids – Want to chill after school? Come to the library for a “Book Tasting.” Books will be put out and participants will circulate to a new place setting every 3-4 minutes. Snacks will be served. Bring your friends for a fun half hour! Intended for grades 1-6.
Wed., May 18th -5:30 p.m.: Words & Wine Book Club – Join us and share a book you have read while enjoying a beverage of your own choosing. Even if you haven’t had time to read, you are welcome to join us to hear what others are suggesting. We can’t wait to hear what you have been reading! Location to be announced two weeks prior.
Thu., May 19th – 5:30 p.m.: DIY Garden Bugs – Join Librarian Sue for another fun craft that will be sure to enhance your garden. Sue will be sharing how to make cute garden bugs out of Christmas light bulbs. She will have all the paints and brushes to make this darling craft.
Tue., May 24th – 3:30 p.m.: Hot Wheels Night at the Library – Looking for something to do after school with your friends? Join us at the library to design your own race track for Hot Wheel cars. Who will have the fastest track? The longest track? We have everything needed: tracks, connectors, cars. Fun for all ages! Snack will be served.
Tue., May 31st – 3:30 p.m.: Lego Night at EIL – We are excited to be able to hold Lego Club again in the library! Come build a creation that will remain on display in the library for one week.

Mon., June 6th – 2 p.m.: Rockin’ with Leonardo! – Bring your dancing shoes and rock with Leonardo! Leonardo is a Parent’s Choice award winning musician coming to us from Chicago. He loves strumming on his electric guitar. Humorous, Entertaining and Empowering!
Come sing along with Leonardo! Fun for all ages.
Mon., June 27th – 2 p.m.: PJ’s Pirate Adventure – FUN FOR ALL AGES!
“In this 45 minute sail through an ocean of comedy, PJ and his “crew” will engage your young readers’ minds taking them on a magical journey they will be talking about for years to come! Each show with PJ is jam packed with audience participation, comedy, magic, music, and puppets.” Don’t miss this exciting performer!
