Established in 1998, the Fish Bowl takes up space in the historic Valentine Doller building which was built in 1867. The building is named after a prominent figure, Valentine Doller, who came to Put-in-Bay in the 1800s and served many important roles in the island’s history. He was the first postmaster, worked for the clerk of courts, served as mayor and was a founding trustee. The Doller building has served as post office, general store, tavern, hardware store, bait and tackle shop, ladies apparel store, gift shop and now is home to Mossback’s and the Fish Bowl.
