Winter Grocery Update
The news of the Island General Store closing for the winter had islanders in a scurry to figure out their grocery plans for the winter months. Thankfully, a few island businesses have stepped up to fill the void while the store is closed.
Island Hardware has added Toft’s dairy products including milk, eggs, cheese and butter. They also have a selection of frozen items including ice cream and pizza.
Erie Islands Petroleum Pit Stop also has an assortment of grocery items including baking supplies, canned goods, snacks, dairy products, bread and frozen items. You are now able to enter the store and pick out the items you need. Face masks are required to enter.
Wharfside has an assortment of candy bars and ice cream. They also sell cigarettes and beer and wine to go.
The Island Beverage Center will continue to carry their products throughout the winter. They have a wide selection of beer, wine and low proof liquor and a nice variety of snacks, chips and soda pop.
If you’re still out of luck trying to find a grocery item on the island, Griffing Flying Service is offering a Wednesday grocery delivery service from Kroger in Port Clinton. The cost is $5 per box with a $10 delivery fee. Grocery orders must be placed using the Kroger app by Monday at 6 p.m. Order pickup times should be set to any time on Tuesday to ensure Wednesday delivery. Griffing also asks that you include your full name and island of residence with your order (example: John Smith – Put-in-Bay).
