What’s Happening at Your Local Library?
WINTER READING CHALLENGE begins February 1st! Join us for the Winter Reading Bingo Challenge. Register in Beanstack and then select spots on the bingo card to complete. Win a prize for one Bingo line – vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. Keep playing to fill the entire card. Each full Bingo card will be entered for the drawing of Grand Prizes on March 1st.
Tue., Feb. 7th – 5 p.m.: Paint Your Own Wine Glass – Did you miss the wine glass painting in December? Have you always wanted to paint your own wine glass to impress your friends? Now is your chance! We will have all the supplies you will need to create your own design. It would be helpful if you look online for some ideas beforehand. Pinterest could be helpful. We can’t wait to see what your designs look like!
Wed., Feb. 8th – 10:30 a.m.: Preschool Story Time – Join Librarian Karen Wilhelm for a half hour of reading, song and a craft to take home. Parents and caregivers are asked to stay with their children.
Sat., Feb. 11th – 10-11:30 a.m. – CHOCOLATE FEST IS BACK! Chocolate Cookies, Chocolate Fudge! Which is best you be the judge! The public is invited to enjoy delicious chocolate treats prepared by the best local cooks at the Friends of the Library Chocolate Fest! So you think you have the winning recipe? We can’t wait to try it!
Here’s what to do:
1. Let us know you are participating by stopping in or calling (419) 285-4004. Leave your name and contact number.
2. Bring four dozen sample size (bite size) servings to the library on Sat., Feb. 11tth, between 9:45 and 10:15 a.m. You are not required to stay with your entry during the entire event, but we would love to have you stop by to vote.
3. Please bring your creation ready to be displayed and include any necessary serving utensils. Label all items, please. Voting will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Tue., Feb. 14th – 3:30 p.m.: Doodling with Dots – We’ll play around with doodling any shapes – all touching at least one other shape. Stars, ovals, spirals, diamonds, undulating blobs, hexagons are all fun shapes to doodle! Fun for all ages!
Wed., Feb. 15th – 5:30 p.m.: Words & Wine Book Club – Join us and share a book you have read while enjoying a beverage of your own choosing. Even if you haven’t had time to read, you are welcome to join us to hear what others are suggesting. We can’t wait to hear what you have been reading! The location will be the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club.
School News
Put-in-Bay School and the Put-in-Bay Police Department are working together to hire a full-time School Resource Officer. The primary functions of the School Resource Officer are to help provide a safe and secure learning environment, foster a positive school climate, reduce/prevent crime, serve as an educational resource, and serve as a liaison between the school and the Police Department. The position pays $25 to $28 per hour and includes dental and health insurance and other perks. Candidates for the job must be at least 21 and Certified in the State of Ohio as an Ohio Peace Officer, among other requirements. Download the application: www.tinyurl.com/pibpolice
