What’s Happening at Erie Islands Library?
The Erie Islands Library invites everyone to join its Summer Reading Program “Oceans of Possibilities” running June 6th through July 30th. Download the beanstack app, enter your library card number and you are ready to be entered the wonderful world of books, movies and many exciting programs for the month of June and July! Great prizes will be drawn midway and at the end. Don’t miss out this summer fun!

Mon., June 6th – 2 p.m. – Rockin’ with Leonardo!: Kick-off our 2022 Summer Reading Program by visiting us for a performance fun for all ages! Bring your dancing shoes & rock with Leonardo! Leonardo is an award-winning musician from Chicago. He loves strumming on his electric guitar. Humorous, Entertaining and Empowering! Come sing along with Leonardo!
Tue., June 7th – 3-7 p.m. – Sand Art: Looking for that special something to add to your decor? We have some “under the sea” bottles to fill with colorful sand. Everything needed will be provided. (Sand, Plastic Bottles) If weather permits, we may meet outside by the picnic table.
Wed., June 8th – 5:30 p.m. – “Movies & Munchies”: This club is for all those who love to watch movies, TV shows, series, anything that you watch! Share your favorite and suggest to others what you liked or did not like. Traditionally at the movies everyone gets “munchies” to enjoy. Bring your favorite movie munchies and beverages. This event is being held at the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center on Meechen Rd.
Thu., June 9th – 3:30 p.m. – Meet the “Snake Lady”: Known across the Great Lakes region for her work to save the Lake Erie watersnake, Kristin has been featured in numerous magazines articles and on the show Dirty Jobs. Kristin was the recipient of the US Wildlife & Fish Recovery Champion award. Join us to hear the remarkable work she has accomplished, and she’ll probably bring along a reptile friend with her!
Tue., June 14th – 6:30 p.m. – Preschool Story Time “Under the Sea”: Join us for an under the sea story time consisting of stories, fingerplay and an underwater craft. Caregivers are asked to stay with their child/ren.
Wed., June 15th – 5:30 p.m. – Words & Wine Book Club: Join us and share a book you have read while enjoying a beverage of your own choosing. Even if you haven’t had time to read, you are welcome to join us to hear what others are suggesting. We can’t wait to hear what you have been reading! Weather permitting, this event will be held in Duff’s Vineyards.
Tue., June 21 – 5:30 p.m. – Watercolor Painting with Celeste Mycoskie: Join local artist Celeste Mycoskie for fun painting with watercolors. She’ll share tips on how to paint your own underwater scene. All supplies will be provided. Registration required.
Thu., June 23rd – 5 p.m. – Beach Glass Art for your Garden: Join Librarian Kim Pugh to make a beautiful decoration for your yard out of beach glass. An example will be on display one week prior. All supplies will be provided. Registration required.
Mon., June 27th – 2 p.m. – PJ’s Pirate Adventures: FUN FOR ALL AGES! “In this 45 minute sail through an ocean of comedy, PJ and his “crew” will engage your young readers’ minds taking them on a magical journey they will be talking about for years to come! Each shoe with PJ is jammed packed with audience participation, comedy, magic, music, and puppets.” Don’t miss this exciting performer!
Tue., June 28th to Fri., July 1st: “Ocean in a Jar”: Stop by Tuesday through Friday this week to make a beautiful “Ocean in a Jar.” Great stress reliever or just a cute decoration to have in your bedroom or sitting around to amuse friends. Fun for all ages! While supplies last.
