Island Airports Receive Funding
Three Lake Erie Island airports plus the one in Port Clinton have received $633,000 in funding from the Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration. The funding was part of 96 airport improvements across the state of Ohio totaling $49.5 million according to U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown.
The local airports that received Airport Infrastructure Grant funds: Erie-Ottawa International Airport (Port Clinton) — $294,000; Put-in-Bay — $113,000; Middle Bass Island — $113,000; and North Bass Island — $113,000. The awards were made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” Brown said. “These investments will enhance safety and operations at Ohio airports and improve travel for Ohio families and businesses.”
