School News By Steve Poe, Superintendent
“Your greatness is not what you have, it’s what you give.” This is a quote I recently heard and is appropriate for this time of year. For some people, giving may consist of material things, however, the most valued gift one can give is ‘their time.’ If you have not done so already, give a call to someone who may be alone or to someone who needs an encouraging word.
January is “School Board Recognition Month.” We would like to express our gratitude for the work our Board of Education members do. Each member brings a unique perspective and a different ‘skill set’ that benefits the group as a whole. While keeping our children’s best interests in mind, the board’s decisions have improved and expanded opportunities and programs for our students. Please express your gratitude to board members: John Domer, Karen Goaziou, Mike Byrnes, Bill Market and Dino Uszak.
Congratulations to our choir students and Ms. Gay Pippert for another excellent holiday performance. This year’s performance was taped and made available to parents. The preparation our kids put into this program is quite evident! Thanks for putting everyone in the holiday spirit.
We would like to thank those who contributed to this year’s Santa’s Shop. Our students thoroughly enjoyed shopping for Christmas gifts for their friends and family!
We are hoping ‘Mother Nature’ will cooperate this winter so we can open our ice rink. Children in pre-kindergarten through grade six need to be supervised at all times. Masks need to be worn by everyone inside the playground/ice rink area. Be safe and have fun!
Put-in-Bay School will conduct on-line, remote instruction the week of January 4th to 8th. In-person, in-school instruction will resume on Monday, January 11th.
