Bob Adamov’s Not Alone At Home Brings Family Thanksgiving Chaos to Life Rated H for Hilarious.
Award-winning Put-in-Bay author Bob Adamov has done it again — but this time, instead of spies, smugglers, or deep-sea treasure, he’s tackling the most dangerous adventure of all: family Thanksgiving.
In his hilarious new novel Not Alone At Home, Adamov serves up a holiday feast of comic disasters. Imagine Home Alone — but swap the plucky kid for a cranky eighty-year-old curmudgeon, George Ivers, whose only wish is to eat his turkey in peace. Instead, he had a full-blown circus of surprise guests stampeding through his front door like it’s a Black Friday sale at Walmart.
“Poor George. His uninvited guests are like glitter. Once they arrive, they are hard to get rid of,” Adamov chuckled. “George didn’t get pumpkin pie… instead, he got chaos à la mode. It’s Thanksgiving madness!”
The Story in Brief
George Ivers just wants to nap in his recliner and enjoy a quiet turkey dinner with his wife. What he gets is a circus: the doorbell rings like a car alarm and distant relatives materialize out of nowhere. George, part Archie Bunker, part Fred Flintstone, with a dash of Mr. Magoo, resorts to half-baked (and usually backfiring) schemes to reclaim his home.
Between a dishwasher rebellion, a grocery store showdown, and sidesplitting family drama, George discovers the cold truth: you don’t host Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving hosts you.
Not Alone At Home is a laugh-out-loud romp full of holiday havoc, oddball relatives, and one old man clinging to his sanity like the wishbone.
About the Author
Bob Adamov is no stranger to adventure. Named Best Lake Erie Author by Lake Erie Living Magazine, Adamov has thrilled readers with 22 novels including the popular, Put-in-Bay-based Emerson Moore mystery/adventure series and the award-winning Memory Layne and Alone At Home. His books have racked up honors from the Hollywood, London, New York, and Florida Book Festivals, as well as the Literary Titan Gold Book Award.
A Kent State graduate, Adamov divides his time between Wooster, Ohio, and various island getaways like Put-in-Bay, Key West, Holden Island and Chincoteague. When he’s not writing, he’s boating, or treasure hunting — though none of those are as dangerous as surviving Thanksgiving with George Ivers.
