If you want to get out onto the water and snag some fish during your trip to Put-in-Bay, let Captain Bruce and Captain Steve help you do it. Between the two, they bring 50 years of experience with fishing charters to Put-in-Bay Charter Fishing. Their business is helping you land the big one, and they’ll do so by sharing all the knowledge they’ve acquired over the years about the migration patterns of the game fish of Lake Erie. If there’s a secret spot anywhere near the island, they know it, and they’ll take you there. They are fully insured, and licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard and the State of Ohio.
There are half-day and full-day packages available at Put-in-Bay Charter Fishing. And if you’re looking for the VIP experience, ask about the Executive Package. This comes with beers and soft drinks, as well as a lunch out on the water. You will need to provide your own cooler, but for a fee they will clean your catch so you can enjoy it for dinner on the island. Also, don’t forget that Ohio fishing license. If you need one, stop by the Wharfside, where they have them for sale.
Fishing Around Put-in-Bay
Despite the island chain being called the Bass Islands, Bass are not the fish you will encounter most frequently. That would be the Lake Erie Walleye. In fact, the area has the nickname of Walleye Capital of the World! There are plenty of Bass around as well, particularly Smallmouth Bass. That name didn’t come from nowhere after all. Some of the other fish you may land are rock bass, crappie, catfish and perch. Perch features on many menus at Put-in-Bay.
Check out Put-in-Bay Charter Fishing Service’s website here. If you can’t find the answer to your question there, give them a call at (419) 341-2805. Both Captains are Put-in-Bay residents, so they stand prepared to answer any of your questions about their offerings and the fishing up at the Bay!
