Perry’s Cave is one of the most popular attractions on the island. As far as caves in Ohio go, this one is a must-see! The limestone cave resides 52 feet under the surface of Put-in-Bay and is a nationally registered Ohio Natural Landmark. Guests travel below the surface and learn how the magnificent cave was formed, its historical significance, and find the perfect Perry’s Cave memento from their gift shop on the way out.

Calcium Carbonate Formations line the cave throughout the tour and make for quite a stunning experience. One of the most fascinating features of Perry’s Cave is the rare underground lake. You can even observe how the water levels that ebb and flow in sync with Lake Erie. This is truly one of the most awe-inspiring sights to behold. Make sure to plan for your trip in advance and tie on those comfy rubber-soled shoes and a light jacket. Perry’s Cave maintains a cool 50° year-round and the subterranean temperature may surprise you. Once completing your tour, make sure to check out some of the other entertaining onsite activities, such as The Butterfly House, Fort aMaze’n giant walk-thru maze challenge, Rock Wall, and more!

Testimonials

Lauren B: “This is a fun tourist trip with enough to occupy the family for the day. You can view the antique vehicles for free. There is a cave tour that is about 20 minutes. It’s a small cave that’s been harvested, but it’s still a fun experience, especially if you haven’t been in a cave before. The stairs are steep, so you will want to be good on your feet. Good for kids. There is also a sluice box, climbing tower, butterfly house, and maze. Snacks available at the stand. The gift shop at the cave and butterfly house. We got a discount when renting our golf cart and they have public bathrooms.”

Jayson W: “Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center is a place you can easily spend several hours. There is a lot to do with the maze, mini-golf, huge gift store, and the Perry’s Cave which is a MUST DO! We did the Cave tour for the first and it is almost like something you would see out of a movie. Everything here is very affordable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Always love visiting while on Put In Bay.”

Nathan B: “Very cool cave to visit. It was our tour guide’s first time on his own and he did a great job! The woman at the checkout made the wait for the tour a lot of fun by sending us on a scientific scavenger hunt. Thanks again!”
