Perry’s Victory Visitor Center Opens

There is one attraction on the island of Put-in-Bay you can’t leave without checking out and that is the Perry’s Victory Visitor Center. This is the only National Park Service monument celebrating the peace between the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. The monument is over 352-foot tall and was originally designed to commemorate all who fought for freedom in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. During your visit, to the Visitor Center, you will learn more about the history of this battle, view the memorial from multiple vantage points, and spend time at the waterfront park. With that said, the Visitor’s Center offers fun programs throughout the year so be sure to plan accordingly.

Traveling to Perry’s Victory

It can be quite a fun adventure to travel to Put-in-Bay island. The most preferred way guests arrive at the island is via the Jet Express Ferry Service. This smooth sailing catamaran is the main transportation service from Port Clinton and Sandusky. Onboard, guests will have stunning views of the large majority of Lake Erie’s islands on the way. If you’re looking to hop over to another Lake Erie island during your Put-in-Bay stay, there are also inter-island ferry services. Once you arrive to Put-in-Bay there are plenty of relaxing and fun ways to get around the island. When you hop off of the Jet Express you are only a block away from your rentals. This makes everything super easy so your crew can start touring right away. Mopeds run all day on a single tank of gas, so you will sure to get your money’s worth with this transportation method! Another fun way to get around with your family and friends is by renting a golf cart. Enjoy the luxury of traveling together, while still feeling the wind on your face along the way!
