The success of the Annual Pig Roast for the Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center is a reflection of the increasing dedication and enthusiasm from the volunteers and donors who helped to make the event great. Each year the event is hosted at the Goat Soup and Whiskey. Amy Huston made all of the desserts, Pepsi donated all of the water, and the Put-in-Bay Fire Department provided the tables! The entertainment was provided by Ray Fogg and Drew LaPlante. In true island style, there will be a spit roast hog for everyone to enjoy. There will also be incredible Put-in-Bay themed prizes to win in a silent auction. Look out for pre-sale tickets and an opportunity to volunteer. So grab your tickets in advance, especially if you are bringing a group! All proceeds will benefit the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center, specifically the Building Addition Fund to increase the available space for the center. Visitors will find a variety of unique island prizes such as a trip for two to Rattlesnake Island, Ferry Passes, a biplane ride, a five-course dinner for Four at a local restaurant, and hand-crafted art work.
This event is also part of Green Week, a week of activities involving the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center and their efforts to highlight the natural wonders of the Lake Erie Islands. Green Week boasts events such as kayaking, tours of the lighthouse on the island, star-gazing cruise, events at the Aquatic Center and so much more! Green Week comes every August and is a must-see on Put-in-Bay.
